StrathSpan Calendar

Previous events

StrathSpan was supposed to play two performances Friday July 10th on the Alex Beaton stage at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games - that is until Covid 19 caused the Games to be cancelled. However, the Games committee has been very busy putting together a weekend of video footage that will be aired live on YouTube and Facebook. The show will begin with the historic torchlight ceremony at 8:30 PM on Thursday July 9th. It will continue over the weekend, showing some of the Games most popular events and musicians. StrathSpan is honored to air on Saturday July 11th at 12 noon. Please log in to Facebook live or Youtube to catch our performance!!!

Alasdair Fraser's Scottish Fiddling School

Valley of the Moon

Nora will be flying all the way to California to attend a week of intensive fiddling with Alasdair Fraser and his instructors.  She last attended Valley of the Moon in 1999 so it's time to go again to see old friends and make new ones.  She'll be going with fiddling friend Debbie Morris, and cello friend Tracey Maxwell.  They'll come back pumped up and full of new music to share with their Scottish music club and keep them busy the rest of the year.

The Carolinas Branch RSCDS Tea Dance

The Grange, Greensboro, NC

Nora will perform with "The Bobbies" for a tea dance given by The Carolinas Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.

Scottish Dance Party

Lewis Recreation Center, Greensboro, NC

Not open to public.

Mandolin and Fiddle at Swannanoa Celtic Week

Swannanoa Gathering

On the heels of Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, Nora will drive straight to Warren Wilson College to attend Celtic week at the Swannanoa Gathering.  She'll take two mandolin classes (one of them with Robin Bullock) and one advanced Irish fiddle class (with Liz Carroll).  Summers are always her education and music shot-in-the-arm time.
